BMFTR funding line “Diversity Connects” : Date:

In mid-August 2025, the BMFTR launched the funding line “Diversity Connects”. Its aim is to strengthen networking between interest groups, universities, research institutions, and other players in the science system and to promote projects that advance this networking and the associated exchange of ideas to structurally strength diversity in science.

The funding is aimed at universities, non-university research institutions, student and civil society organisations and associations, as well as foundations and sponsors of educational institutions with proven diversity expertise.

The funding is intended to help create a scientific environment in which diversity of perspectives is promoted and all ideas are heard. Thus, the BMFTR also wants to prevent already underrepresented groups from leaving the scientific system, thus narrowing the scientific discourse. To this end, events or platforms can be developed that raise awareness of the added value of diversity of perspectives, facilitate participation in the scientific system, promote the removal of barriers, improve the visibility of underrepresented groups, and professionalise anti-discrimination work in the scientific system.

“Diversity Connects” funds projects with up to 50,000 euros for a maximum duration of 18 months. The first call for project outlines ends on 31 October 2025; two further calls are planned for July 2026 and April 2027. DLR Projektträger is the project management agency responsible for this funding line and thus the contact for all questions regarding funding.
