New event format: UAS community talks : Date:

The Federal Ministry of Research, Technology and Space (BMFTR) is launching a new event format called “UAS community talks” – developed in response to feedback from the UAS community. We warmly invite you to the launch event for our new online series, which promotes the practice-oriented exchange of knowledge and networking among researchers from universities of applied sciences (UAS).

The first session has already been scheduled – on 5 May from 11:00 to 11:45 am, the topic will be "Optimal project management through effective communication between project management and university administration". Prof. Dr. Robin Langebach, Professor of Compressor Technology and Refrigeration Engineering at Karlsruhe University of Applied Sciences, demonstrates how to successfully integrate project implementation into the management of third-party funding, using a specific project as an example.

We asked Robin Langebach what participants can expect from his talk and why good project management is important at UAS:

“Anyone who achieves a grant approval letter for their research project feels a sense of joy and pride. The reality, however, is that this is where the real work begins – going far beyond the many scientific ideas. It is not uncommon to find oneself fighting ‘windmills’ and, at times, feeling let down by one’s own organisation’s administration. In my view, a clear-eyed approach, constructive dialogue and a high level of trust in the own staff are the key to managing research projects both internally and externally. The talk will draw on specific examples relating to processes and simple tools. This presentation aims to share our perspective on how to tackle the mammoth task together with your organisation, your partners and in consultation with the funding body.”

We are looking forward in seeing many of you there!

About UAS community talks

The UAS community talks offers our community the opportunity for virtual exchange. The talks focus on topics such as ideas for innovative research approaches, tips for networking, and new ways to publicise your achievements.

The aim of the talks is to enable participants to draw inspiration for their daily work from best practices and to network with relevant stakeholders in the UAS community. The ‘UAS community talks’ take place online several times a year and each session lasts approximately one hour.
