DFG announces Communicator Award 2026 : Date:
The Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG, German Research Foundation) has announced the “Communicator Award – Science Award of the Stifterverband” for 2026. It is an award for outstanding achievements in science communication. The deadline for submissions is 30 September 2025.
The Communicator Award is worth 50,000 euros and is awarded annually. According to the DFG, the call for entries is aimed at research teams or individual scientists who “make their scientific work and their field of expertise accessible to a wider audience in a particularly innovative, diverse and effective way and engage in a dialogue between the research community and the public”.
The call for entries is open to all disciplines. However, applicants must work at a university or non-university research institution in Germany. With the prize money, the DFG and Stifterverband aim to support researchers in continuing to communicate their work and expanding their activities in this area.
Proposals submitted by the end of September will be evaluated by a jury of communication experts. The winners will be announced in spring 2026, and the award ceremony will take place at the end of June 2026 during the DFG Annual Meeting in Bonn.
