Call for proposals to host the PartWiss conferences : Date:
The University of Technology Chemnitz is seeking institutions, individuals and ideas to help shape the Part-Wiss conferences, which will take place between 2027 and 2029. The aim is to establish networks and strengthen participation in science. The initiative will combine research with practical experience and generate new momentum.
The overarching aim of the PartWiss conferences on networking and strengthening participation in science is to intensify scientific and practice-oriented dialogue on the challenges and potential of participatory and transdisciplinary research, and to strengthen networking among stakeholders.
The Federal Ministry of Research, Technology and Space (BMFTR) is providing funding to the University of Technology Chemnitz as the lead project coordinator. Funding of up to €225,000 is provided for the organisation of a PartWiss conference. This will be made available to the competition winners by Chemnitz University of Technology via a private-law contract for the transfer of funds.
Applications are open to academic institutions such as state and non-state universities and non-university research and academic institutions with significant expertise in participatory research approaches. Non-governmental organisations such as associations, federations or foundations with a proven focus on participatory research may also apply in partnership with an academic institution.
The application process consists of two stages: applicants must submit a concept outline setting out a specific and well-reasoned proposal for an annual theme, including a budget. Once the successful applications have been selected, the detailed concept will be developed and refined in collaboration with the PartWiss coordination team and the relevant programme committee.
The deadline for submitting concept outlines is 17 August 2026.
