Call for proposals: DFG-Fraunhofer Cooperation – Trilateral Transfer Projects : Date:
The German Research Foundation (DFG) and the Fraunhofer Society (Fraunhofer) are once again calling for applications for trilateral transfer projects. The programme aims to systematically translate scientific findings into practical applications, thereby bridging the gap between basic research and practical application. Project outlines must be submitted by 1 September 2026.
Those eligible to apply are researchers at universities and universities of applied sciences (HAWs), who must form a project consortium with a Fraunhofer Institute and an application partner. Fraunhofer Institutes act as intermediaries between universities and application partners, conducting application-oriented preliminary research and strengthening and initiating contacts with industry. The goal is to exploit the research results for economic purposes.
This call is open to all disciplines in which DFG-funded projects have laid the necessary groundwork. The application process is a two-stage procedure. Project outlines must be submitted by 1 September 2026 and full proposals by 10 March 2027.
Further information on the requirements, procedures and documents can be found on the DFG programme website (see the right-hand column).
