7th BMFTR Symposium “Sustainability in Science“ : Date:
Under the title “Shaping Successful Transformation – Innovations for Sustainable Universities and Research Institutions“, the Federal Ministry of Research, Technology and Space (BMFTR) and the German Rectors’ Conference (HRK) are hosting the 7th symposium of the “Sustainability in Science“ initiative on 18 and 19 March 2026.
Together with university management, researchers, lecturers, administrative staff, and students, the organisers will focus on key questions relating to the sustainability transformation: How can project-based solutions be successfully transferred and consolidated into the structures of scientific organisations? What obstacles arise during implementation – and how can they be overcome? How can cultures of sustainability be fostered throughout the entire science system?
Programme highlights
The symposium will be opened by Dr Silke Launert, Parliamentary State Secretary at the Federal Ministry of Research, Technology and Space, together with Prof. Dr Walter Rosenthal, President of the German Rectors’ Conference.
The event offers a wide-ranging programme, featuring presentations, a panel discussion, and a variety of workshops. In the project and ideas gallery, projects funded by the BMFTR as part of the „Sustainability in Science“ initiative will present their latest findings, and other relevant stakeholders will introduce themselves. There will also be opportunities to exchange experiences, network and forge new ideas.
Detailed information on the conference programme and registration will be available shortly on the symposium website.
